Health insurance

You are required to take out a health insurance and a liablity insurance for your stay in the Netherlands. The IND (Dutch immigration office) will check if you are insured when you apply for your residence permit or sticker in your passport. Medical care in the Netherlands is of high quality and can therefore be very costly. You need to have a sufficient health insurance (it is not included in your enrolment at NHTV). Furthermore, you need to have a health insurance policy when you apply for a residence permit.

Always make sure that you have a health insurance that covers all medical expenses resulting from any illness, injury or hospitalisation in the Netherlands. You will have to make enquiries at your local insurance company. Always bring your health insurance policy and insurance card. You can also choose to arrange your insurance through NHTV upon arrival.
