Examples of such issues are industry transformation, destination management & development, urban-rural relationships, poverty alleviation, and climate change. The key focus of this academic bachelor is on sustainable tourism development.
Unique features of the Bachelor of Science Tourism programme:
The Bachelor of Science Tourism combines Wageningen’s world-class 'green' education with NHTV’s long-standing expertise on tourism.
As a student you will benefit from the expertise of lecturers who have considerable experience in the tourism industry as well as with performing academic research. You get to study in a programme that provides an important contribution to the development of tourism knowledge. Lecturers are involved in various scientific projects to research current issues in sustainable tourism and to provide scientifically credible answers and practically relevant solutions.
An example at NHTV is the associate professorship ‘Sustainable Tourism and Transport’, in which the relationships between tourism, tourist transportation and climate change are studied. At Wageningen University for example the 'Socio-spatial Analysis Group' currently executes research projects on tourism, nature conservation and development.
As a student in the Bachelor of Science Tourism you will have the possibility to participate in and contribute to this scientific research agenda.
