Discover NHTV

NHTV is a university of applied sciences with about 7,000 students from over 100 countries. It is situated in the south of the Netherlands, in the city of Breda, only 100 km from both Amsterdam and Brussels. Breda is a historical city with some 180,000 inhabitants. Appr. 20,000 young people are studying in Breda. NHTV was founded in 1966 as an institute offering bachelor’s programmes in tourism and leisure and in this field, it is the largest and leading education institution in the world. New (academic) bachelor’s and master’s programmes have been developed since then.

As from 1 September 2018 NHTV Breda will continue under the name of Breda University of Applied Sciences. NHTV will not only be given a new name. We have also developed a new logo and corporate identity, consistent with our positioning objectives. Please, read more and watch the video on our new strategy.

In 2016 NHTV Breda celebrated its 50th anniversary, which means half a century of experience in practice-based higher education and international cooperation. In the fields of tourism, leisure and hospitality, NHTV is the largest and leading education institute in the world. According to the league table of Dutch universities of applied sciences of ‘Keuzegids HBO’, NHTV is one of the best universities of applied sciences in the Netherlands for many years.

Quality in an international setting

NHTV prepares you for management-level positions in an international setting. International accreditations from, for instance, the UN World Tourism Organization and the World leisure Organization underline the quality of education. NHTV works together with many leading education institutions all over the world. As a result, there are many opportunities for intensive student and lecturer exchanges. Due in part to the joint research programmes, student conferences and summer courses, the international character of the programmes is strengthened. Furthermore, NHTV encourages work placements abroad or at internationally oriented companies.
