Arno Schmitz is working at Guerrilla Games
Arno Schmitz is first alumnus of International Game Architecture and Design (2006-2010) and currently working at Guerrilla Games as Senior Character Artist. He worked as one of the character artists on the AAA game Horizon Zero Dawn. His most prominent contribution is the work done on the head of Aloy (the main character) and some of her costumes. On the 21st of June 2017 Arno returned to IGAD to give a guest lecture on the Character pipeline (going through the whole production process) at Guerrilla Games.
“It was great to be back at NHTV Breda as a guest speaker. It’s nice to see that the current GameLabs at International Game Architecture and Design approach the real life game studios better than when I was studying here. The hard work I did at school was a good preparation for the workload of the games industry. As a high school student I was always the one drawing in a sketch book, at International Game Architecture and Design they taught me the fundamentals of 3D. I graduated cum laude within 4 years and received the Huygens scholarship. This scholarship allowed me to go to the Florence Academy of Art. This experience plus my 4 years at International Game Architecture and Design allowed me to build up a strong portfolio that appealed to the character team at Guerrilla Games.”
